Remember When?

For those of you who know Jennifer W. from Burnt Hickory and read her blog, she inspired me to look for these pictures. Jennifer tells about her experience of looking online to find gas, waiting in line for an hour and a half to get gas, and the people she encountered while in line. I think we will have a new phrase to go with "Road Rage" -- "Gas Line Rage".

Anyway, these were taken in March of 1986. I was a freshman at ACU. Don't ask me why gas was so cheap. I was not into politics back then, I just loved the fact that I could fill up my 1969 VW Bug for $.59 per gallon.

Notice the long line of cars.
Notice the price of gas!! It is a little easier to wait an hour and a half for these prices!

  1. I like that the movie rental is the same price as a gallon of gas... Some things just don't change!!

I remember, it had to be about the same time, there was one gas station in Jacksboro that was selling gas for 25 cents! I remember sitting in my babysitter's car (yeah, I was like in the 5th grade!) waiting in line... that was crazy!

  2. Now that is a nice gas price! But wasn't this the same time people had mortgage rates in the double digits . . . I sure hope that doesn't come back around! I was in the 8th grade during this time and don't recall long lines . . . probably because I was too busy flirting with boys and cheerleading . . . oh my!
