Is God a Molehill?

I think Satan is attacking Christians, and we are just standing by watching, and getting distracted by other issues. I have seen the e-mail about Obama and comparing him to the anti-Christ. The object of this e-mail is to get you thinking -- and that is what it did for me. One quote really jumped out at me (this is suppose to be Obama, although I have not verified it): "we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . ." Yes, I know our nation was founded by Christians. However, it was started based on freedom. Freedom for people to believe what they choose.

We get insulted about non-Christians fighting against saying "Merry Christmas". We get irate about gays wanting to be married. We get indignant when non-Christians don't want us to advertise Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts at school because it is a Christian organization. We get nasty when the subject of prayer is school is even mentioned. However, our country was founded so that each person could choose what they wanted to believe and have the freedom to practice that belief.

How would we respond if every store we entered had "Happy Hanukkha" posted at their door, with no mention of Christmas? How would we respond if our child received information at school about joining an atheist group? How would we respond if all prayer were allowed back in school, and one child chose to pray to Satan during the morning assembly?

Here is the real issue: All of these groups are protesting what Christians do, because we make them uncomfortable. Gays want to be called married. They don't want to come up with their own title of union. They want marriage. Why? Because they want us to conform to their way. They want to change the way Christians think about them. What Christians believe is important to people, or they wouldn't fight so hard to get us to change.

We are so wrapped up in the battles, I think we are missing what the war is about. Non-Christians want us out. They want us to evaporate. Or, better yet, to become them. Either way, Satan wins. They want to take away our freedom. And by stooping to their level, we are allowing them to win. We are to teach by example. We are to approach each person as a soul that God loves. Instead, we slander, make fun of and ridicule people who believe differently than we do. And then, we sit back and let them take over. If we do nothing, Satan wins.

As the song goes "they will know we are Christians by our love!" We have God on our side. The best way to fight this war, is to bring them to our side. And we will not succeed if we continue to fight their way. We will not succeed in showing Jesus in our life if we continue to make "issues" the mountain and God the molehill.

If we choose to be Americans, we cannot expect the government and laws to back us up. If we choose to be Christians, we cannot let "them" go one day without seeing God in us! God is love. Go out today and show Jesus to someone.

So, what am I trying to inspire you to do? I am not really sure -- but God is. God will show you what your mission is . . . will you choose to accept it?

How Do You Watch TV?

Talon is never still, except, maybe when he is asleep. My mother says I was the same way. She said that I would watch TV, but I was standing on my head, or playing with something at the same time. Shanon says I still cannot be still -- just try sitting next to me at church!

Best Money Ever Saved!

I just had to post an update. Remember my post in September Best $$ Ever Spent?, well, I received my electric bill today. I saved almost enough to pay that $250 it cost to get the pool covered (and the pump tuned off). However, I had to spend some more to by a new pump to pump water off of the top of the cover when it rains -- it never ends!

College Pop Tarts

Talon is on an antibiotic and steroids (close your eyes for a moment and picture Talon on steroids!) It actually hasn't been as bad as when he was on them at 2 -- that was not fun. Anyway, he goes from eating everything in sight, due to the steroids, or not wanting anything, due to the anitbiotics. But, he has eaten A LOT of Pop-Tarts. I bought the ones that have the college team logos (they were out of the Indiana Jones ones that I was tired of reading anyway). So, yes, below is a picture of a half eaten Pop-Tart. We had to look up what team this was. Does anyone know without looking it up?

What else is up with the Seals?

• Terrin has called me mama and Shanon dada. Not just saying the words, but using them as a name!
• As I said, Talon is on medication -- he has mild asthma.
• Terrin has an ear infection.
• Terrin has finally learned to drink from a sippy cup.
• And, Terrin finally has his first tooth!
• Shanon is finally finished with budget stuff, so he is home on time again.
• We are having a garage sale next week -- so, I am preparing for that.
• Shanon's dad's house was broken into. They took almost everything. But, we think they caught the guy.

McWane Science Center

We visited the McWane Science Center during our trip to Birmingham last week for Terrin's surgery. We had a blast, and the kids loved it too! We ran out of time, there was so much to see.

We will definitely go back. For now, my slide show will have more shots of this trip.

Remember When?

For those of you who know Jennifer W. from Burnt Hickory and read her blog, she inspired me to look for these pictures. Jennifer tells about her experience of looking online to find gas, waiting in line for an hour and a half to get gas, and the people she encountered while in line. I think we will have a new phrase to go with "Road Rage" -- "Gas Line Rage".

Anyway, these were taken in March of 1986. I was a freshman at ACU. Don't ask me why gas was so cheap. I was not into politics back then, I just loved the fact that I could fill up my 1969 VW Bug for $.59 per gallon.
