It has been an interesting Thanksgiving for the Seals family. We spent our first Thanksgiving in Alabama as a family. It is weird having holidays "just us". But, when we were back in Texas there were times that I missed the calmness of a holiday alone. But, having said that, we can't wait to get to Texas to see family!
The day after Thanksgiving my car died and we had to take Phoebe to the vet. Talon and I said our tearful good-byes to Phoebe before Shanon left to take her to a vet we found in the yellows pages. Well, today is a second Thanksgiving at the Seals house. My car only had a battery problem and cost $25 to fix. And, Phoebe came home! She does have a large "mass" (translation: tumor) in her abdomen. So, she will probably not be with us much longer, but, we are rejoicing to have her home today. My Sunday School class had an assignment for Thanksgiving. We were to find something to be thankful for starting with each letter of the alphabet. Here is my list:
- Another chance to be a mom. After post-pardum and other issues with Talon as a baby, I just wanted the chance to be the mom of an infant and love the experience -- God had granted that wish!
- Brothers - mine and my sons are brothers
- Computer to keep in touch with my friends and family!
- Dedicated husband
- Escapes (TV, a quick errand alone)
- Family everywhere (the church) I thought of this one after having dessert with new friends at our new church on Thanksgiving. I have learned, with each move to just look forward to the family members I will meet in our new location.
- Goodyear for Shanon's new job and our family being together.
- Helpful parents.
- Incredible boys (and yes, they are!)
- Jokes
- Kind people (I wrote this one after hearing about the Wal - mart worker who was trampled to death.)
- Lifelong friends. The ones I have known for a lifetime and the ones I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life.
- Marriage. Shanon and I will be married 21 years in a few weeks!
- None "dirty" diapers. My son can soil 4+ diapers a day!
- Obedient children. Do I hear Amen?
- Phoebe, who taught me to love "inside pets". I wrote this before she got sick.
- Quiet moments to myself Shhhhhhh
- Robert's Life
- Sobriety Amanda and Ryan, I am so proud of you!
- Thanksgiving - just us
- Underwater (I really want to go diving!)
- Videos that keep my kids occupied when needed. (I know what you are thinking, but, my guess is you have never been a JAM in need of a shower!)
- Web-cam. So I can see my family. Now, if we could just hug online!
- X-Box that has helped Shanon and Talon bond (they love the Lego games)
- Yell free days. I am really working on it, and they get farther apart!
- ZonderKidz -- publisher of kids Bible stuff.
